About

The DEE ELLUS Story

A worker for people with disabilities turned Song Writer after his clients gave him the thumbs up.

With a blend of rock ‘n’ roll, pop, country, and world music, Dee Ellus writes his own style ‘Trop Rock’: some warmth of country

melodies, positive lyrics, and some old time rock ‘n’ roll.

When Dee jammed with Zen and Gary Clarke from 1970s Legendary band Carson in 1990, he felt music was going to be a part of his entire life, whether he had a career in music or not.

Then in 1994 Dee Ellus was a lyricist for Russian Rocker Shura Bdva for the entire year. Shura has gone on to become MTV Russian Music Award winner for Best Rock Act, in 2007.

His next musical move was combining music with his other love – looking after people with a disability. Dee spent the next decade working with his clients, playing his guitar and singing songs requested, in order to keep people without a lot of hope in as much happiness as possible.

It was only much later that Dee Ellus discovered he could write music. By sheer accident when attempting to woo a past relationship back, Dee discovered his love for writing and composing music instead.

Dee has been influenced by Burklee College Professor Pat Pattison’s method of song writing, believing strongly that songs can convey coherent and compelling stories. Dee follows Pat each time he visits from the states. He has also attended song writing workshops by Tali White of the Australian band the Lucksmiths.

Recently he has collaborated with songwriters Shane Timmo and Paul J Penton, both well known writers in the Nashville Song Writing Community. Paul J Penton has successfully written for Australian Country great Ron Sellars.

Dee Ellus’s current work has been mostly produced by Tony Salter, a producer and sound engineer with a legendary career in London, having worked with Kylie Minogue, Amy Winehouse, and virtually a who’s who of the entertainment industry.

The new Dee Ellus album “The Crossing” is now available!
